Turning yourself Na'Vi can be simple! Even Mr Bean managed it, and now has one of the biggest Facebook fan groups. Learn how to become an Avatar yourself!

Cruising through Facebook as I usually do of a morning, I tend to pick up some interesting groups and fan pages that my fantastic friends are joining. Very few days pass that I don’t find something on Facebook that’s worthy of a giggle. And so I present to you, my new segment: Facebook Group of the Whenever!

Today’s group(s):

If Mr Bean was in Avatar, he would look like this!

If Mr Bean was in Harry Potter, he would look like this!

Now, admittedly – the Avatar one is funnier. I love James Cameron’s Avatar – it’s great. I’m not quite to the point of Photoshopping myself to look like one of the Na’Vi, but after seeing some of the attempts posted to the fan photos on the group, it’s getting more and more tempting. For some of us, it’s enough to lol at Mr Bean, but — if you’re at all tempted to try it for yourself, this website has one of the best Avatar tutorials I’ve come across yet. If you give it a shot – link me the results! And then you never know, I might just have a go myself!

For those of you who’ve been here before, you’re probably wondering what the hey has happened to the place. Well, it’s a fantastic tale involving my botched attempt at a manual upgrade, some thirty-thousand spam comments, and an export from my previous install of Wordpress that ended up being less complete than I would have liked. In short, except for my first post — I’ve lost the lot. Not cool.

But, I’m back! And this time, better than ever – I’m sure. What originally started as a blog for Nanowrimo is now the home and nerve center for all of my online projects, of which I hope there will be many! Plus the usual nonsense, rants, and my newest favourite – my Facebook Group of the Whenever! Stay tuned for the awesomeness of the internet. If it’s out there – I’ll find it.

That said, if you find it first — I don’t mind being pointed in the right direction. Until next time, all!

My poor laptop. It’s now at 92% of a disk check after running all night, and found more bad sectors than I care to think about. In short, one of my drives is completely buggered, to the point where it decided that booting (and staying responsive) was just too hard. Luckily, have managed to find the warranty and should formatting fail – it’s back off to the shop to be repaired. He’s not even six months old yet.

But, it is of course, the best of times for a computer to give up on life. With NaNo planning happening (and thank goodness I’ve been planning on a notebook and not on the computer!) a computer crash is the last thing I want. At least we’ll have him back and running ready for November – and I can be grateful this didn’t happen halfway through the season. Though, if I have to send him off for fixing – who knows how long he could be out of action…

Not to worry. There’s always Arthur (desktop) and Hugh (netbook) to take Reggie’s (laptop) place if needed. I’m really not short of computers…
